Menopause Awareness Month | October - Health Coach Offer
Have you ever felt that you just weren’t quite yourself, but couldn’t explain why?
Perhaps your mood has changed, your confidence has taken a knock, or your concentration isn’t what it used to be. Maybe you’re feeling exhausted, overwhelmed or struggling with symptoms that you hadn’t associated with menopause.
I know how confusing that can feel, because I’ve been there myself.
One of the main reasons I created Koru Women was my own experience of menopause. It was a time that affected me in ways I hadn’t anticipated, and it ultimately led me to rethink my career and discover a new passion: helping other women navigate this stage of their lives with greater understanding, confidence and support.
As we mark Menopause Awareness Month this October, I wanted to share a little of my story and explain why supporting women through this transition means so much to me.
When I didn’t feel like myself
My menopause experience wasn’t simply about the physical changes I expected. I experienced a whole range of symptoms, some of which I didn’t initially recognise as being connected to menopause.
I experienced periods of extreme sadness and low mood, mood swings, itchy eyes, brain fog and problems with my memory. I could feel low one day and quite different the next, never really knowing how I might feel or how well I’d be able to cope.
I also experienced some weight gain.
It was confusing and unsettling. I didn’t feel like myself, and I struggled to understand what was happening.
When I first went to my GP, antidepressants were offered as a possible way forward. Something in me felt that there might be more to what I was experiencing, so I decided to investigate further.
I started researching menopause, reading, learning and trying to understand the connection between my symptoms and hormonal changes.
Eventually, I went back to my doctor with a list of questions. I wanted to have a more informed conversation about what I was experiencing and explore whether menopause could be the underlying cause.
I subsequently started hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Finding the right approach for me took time, and it was probably around two years before I felt that things were properly coming together and was noticing improvements.
My experience taught me just how important it is to understand our bodies, ask questions and feel able to advocate for ourselves when something doesn’t feel right.
The impact goes beyond physical symptoms
At the time, I was working in media sales, a role that involved getting out and about, meeting clients, networking and building relationships.
It was a job where confidence mattered.
When I was struggling with my symptoms, I found that my confidence at work took a real knock. The brain fog, changes in my mood and the uncertainty about how I would feel all affected how I experienced my working life.
It was difficult to feel at my best when I didn’t fully understand what was happening to me.
Looking back, I can see how much that period influenced my thinking about the future.
I began to question what I wanted and how I wanted to spend the next chapter of my working life.
I knew I wanted to do something that would allow me to make a positive difference to other women.
That was the beginning of the journey that led me to health coaching and, ultimately, to creating Koru Women.
Why I created Koru Women
One of the things I love about health coaching is that it isn’t about me telling you what you should be doing.
It’s about working with you in a way that works with your lifestyle and routine.
We look at where you are now, what matters to you and what you’d like to change. Together, we identify small, achievable goals and build habits that fit into your real life.
Because I’m not interested in quick fixes. There are so many promises of instant results and dramatic transformations, but I believe lasting change comes from small changes that you can actually maintain that become part of your life.
A healthier breakfast.
Moving your body in a way that feels good.
Getting stronger.
Finding ways to manage stress.
Improving your sleep routine.
Creating a little more time for yourself.
Making choices that support your energy and wellbeing.
Small changes can become healthy habits, and healthy habits can become a way of life.
A safe space to explore what works for you
Through Koru Women, I offer one-to-one health coaching for women who want to understand their needs, explore their options and make positive changes that feel right for them.
My approach is personal and non-judgemental.
I want you to feel comfortable talking openly about what’s going on in your life, what you find challenging and what you’d like to change.
I’ll listen, help you explore your goals, share relevant health and wellbeing education, and where relevant offer practical ideas and strategies that you can consider putting into practice.
We can explore areas such as nutrition, hydration, movement, stress management, sleep and everyday habits that support wellbeing.
But this isn’t about following a rigid set of rules or trying to do everything at once.
It’s about understanding you.
What works for one woman may not work for another. My role as a health coach is to support you in identifying realistic, meaningful changes that fit your individual circumstances and priorities.
And importantly, you don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin.
Sometimes, having the time and space to talk things through is a valuable first step in itself.
Health coaching can complement medical care, but it doesn’t replace a healthcare professional’s advice or treatment. If you’re concerned about symptoms, your GP can help you explore possible causes and appropriate treatment options.

Your next chapter matters, too
My own menopause experience wasn’t always easy, but it ultimately helped me discover a new direction and a purpose that I’m passionate about.
It showed me how important it is for women to feel informed, supported and able to make decisions about their own wellbeing.
And it reminded me that looking after ourselves isn’t selfish. it’s an important part of being able to enjoy life, navigate change and feel more confident about the future.
Whether you’re experiencing perimenopause or menopause, adjusting to a new stage of life, or simply wanting to feel healthier and more like yourself, you deserve the time and space to explore what you need.
